The Center for Countering Disinformation has refuted the fake about the Ukrainian military abusing an elderly man. The police found that the accused Kyiv resident had nothing to do with the events in the video.

A video of Ukrainian soldiers allegedly mocking an elderly man in the area of the defense operation in the Kursk region of Russia is circulating online. Subsequently, Russian propagandists "verified" the identity of one of the men in the video and began to disseminate his personal data, including his photo and phone number. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, UNN reports .

Details

It is noted that propagandists, without providing any evidence, began to accuse the Ukrainian military of killing an elderly man after being bullied.

Having verified the information with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Center for Countering Disinformation reports that the person "identified" by the racists has nothing to do with the events in the resonant video,

- the statement said.

The Kyiv City Police received a statement from a local resident that he had received threats of physical violence and murder via messengers. The police found that the citizen's photo, personal data and mobile phone number had been disseminated by pro-Russian propaganda TG channels and publics claiming that he was the person depicted in the video.

Russian propagandists spread fake about the appearance of "black transplantologists" in Sumy region - CPJ8/7/24, 2:33 PM

As a result of the initial investigative actions, it was established that the Kyiv resident had not left the capital. Also, the appearance and voice of the men in the video do not match the appearance and voice of the applicant. It was established that the disseminated information was fake, and the man himself had nothing to do with the events in the video.

In addition, to make their lies more believable, the racists created a page for the man on VKontakte, which is banned in Ukraine, and an email address with a Russian domain that is not used in Ukraine.

This case is yet another example of how Russian propaganda is trying to manipulate public opinion and create a false impression of the actions of the Ukrainian military. We urge you to trust only reliable sources of information,
