The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Georgiy Tikhiy, commented on the EU's imposition of sanctions against Russian propagandists for their role in promoting war propaganda. This was reported by UNN with reference to Tikhiy's post on the social network "X".
Details
As Tikhiy noted, propagandists are direct accomplices in the most horrific Russian atrocities committed in Ukraine and other countries.
For years, Russian propagandists have systematically and purposefully incited ugly, chauvinistic, and genocidal anti-Ukrainian hysteria to mobilize Russians for war and the killing of Ukrainians.
Tikhiy added that these actions are punishable under Article III of the Convention on Genocide - direct and public incitement to commit genocide.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on people in Europe and beyond to build on this decision of the EU Council and take decisive action against these individuals and propaganda organizations. He noted that the list of such propagandists can and should be expanded.
Sanctions against them should be extended to other jurisdictions, including within the Group of Seven and beyond. Their propaganda channels should be blocked in every geographical location.
Recall
The European Union added Russia to the "black list" due to money laundering risks, which will complicate financial transactions with Russian banks.
The European Union also allocated the first 10 million euros for the functioning of a special tribunal on the crime of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
