Russian propaganda is using artificial intelligence to create fake videos of flags being raised at the front. Such disinformation campaigns create an illusion of success for the occupiers.

Russian propaganda has intensified the use of artificial intelligence to create fake videos allegedly depicting the "raising of Russian flags" in various sectors of the front. Particular activity of such information plants was observed on the eve of May 9. This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) of the NSDC, according to UNN.

It is noted that previously Russian occupiers mainly distributed short and isolated videos, but have now moved to more complex AI editing. In particular, propagandists create entire series of clips in which Russian tricolors are allegedly raised over AFU positions.

According to the CCD, an infiltration tactic is also used – short raids by small sabotage groups that plant a flag and quickly leave the position. After this, the captured footage is supplemented with artificially generated elements to create the impression of a large-scale offensive.

The Center emphasizes that such videos form a distorted picture of events, creating an illusion of a "frontline collapse" that does not correspond to the real situation.

Analysts believe that the increase in the number of such information plants on the eve of "Victory Day" indicates attempts by the Russian military-political leadership to compensate for the lack of significant military achievements in reality and to demonstrate "successes" in the virtual space.

It is also noted that cases of distributing similar fakes were previously recorded, including those about the alleged "defection of Ukrainian servicemen to the Russian side." After verification, it was established that the videos were either entirely generated or taken out of context, and the real footage originated from other locations and periods.
