Russia has presented a copy of the Ukrainian robotic turret 'Sabre' called 'Chapai'. The development repeats the concept and implementation of the Ukrainian system, which has been used by the Armed Forces since the ATO.

The Russian Federation has repeated the very concept and implementation of the "Sabre" robotic turret, which has been used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the ATO, and named it "Chapai". UNN writes about this with reference to Defence Express.

The Russians continue to actively copy and imitate Ukrainian developments, and another example of this is the remotely controlled machine gun turret called "Chapai"

- the statement said.

It is noted that this  development was first demonstrated at the so-called Army-2024 defense forum, which is currently taking place near Moscow. The development was presented by the Era investment fund, which finances Russian arms developers.

The design itself is a Russian implementation of the Ukrainian design "Sabre", which has been approved for use by the Armed Forces since September 2023, although it has been on the front line since the ATO. Since then, the turret has received numerous positive reviews from soldiers, is contracted to the Armed Forces, and is used not only as a stand-alone turret but also as part of ground drones

- the statement said.

It is noted that in their Chapay turret, the Russians have completely repeated both the concept and implementation. In particular, the Russian development has remote control by wire and uses an optical sighting module. It is also adapted for different machine guns - 7.62 PKM or 12.7-mm NSV "Utes" and "Kord".

At the moment, it is only an exhibition model, not a production model. But there is a possibility that it, or a similar copy of the Ukrainian Sabre turret, will go into production

- Defence Express adds.

Moreover, the Russian Federation has already adopted the Ukrainian principle of remote control of the Stugna ATGM and is gradually modernizing old Soviet complexes such as the Fagot with remote control modules.
