Robotic dogs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: what are their characteristics and what are they used for

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have started using BAD.2 reconnaissance drones - known as robot dogs - in the Donetsk sector. According to Bild, there are about 30 of them now. UNN has collected the available characteristics of robot dogs and will tell you what tasks they are used for.

The BAD.2 robots developed by Brit Alliance have already become an important tool in modern military conflicts, including on the front line in Ukraine.

In the world of modern technology, these robots are distinguished by their compactness and power, which allows them to perform reconnaissance and tactical tasks in the most difficult conditions.

With a speed of up to 15 km/h and a continuous operation time of up to 5 hours without recharging, BAD.2 robots are highly effective on the battlefield, where they are able to overcome various obstacles and perform missions of terrain reconnaissance and mine detection.

These "dogs" are equipped with camouflage from the German company Concamo and a silent movement system that allows the drones to remain invisible.

According to Bild, BAD.2 robots are actively used by the Ukrainian military in Donetsk region, where more than 30 of them are already performing their tasks, proving their reliability and efficiency in combat conditions.

"We were concerned about the increasingly frequent reports of casualties at the front due to enemy drones. So we discussed the possibilities of a safer solution for reconnaissance missions in high-risk areas. The results are impressive. Our robotic dogs perform reconnaissance missions on the front line, reducing the risk to human soldiers. This not only increases the effectiveness of combat operations, but also strengthens the morale of the army," said Kyle Thorburn, head of Brit Alliance, in a commentary to Bild.

He noted in his commentary that these are compact, robust, and maneuverable ground drones on four legs, controlled by an operator. They can penetrate places that aerial drones cannot reach, such as inside buildings or into enemy trenches. Equipped with video cameras, these robotic "dogs" perform terrain reconnaissance, detect mines, and track the movements of Russian troops, which significantly reduces the risks for Ukrainian intelligence officers.

The cost of one such robot varies from 4 to 8 thousand euros, depending on the modification, which is a justified investment given the opportunities they provide to the military.

The fighters of the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade were the first to use this development.

The UK is also actively working on developing new types of combat drones, including projects to create swarms of dronesthat can act together and perform complex tasks.

Recall

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are actively using BAD.2 robot dogs from the British company Brit Alliance at the front. These drones are excellent at reconnaissance, thus saving the lives of scouts.
