Putin said that in 2021 Biden proposed to postpone Ukraine's accession to NATO for 10-15 years. The Russian dictator replied that it makes no difference to Russia whether it is now or in 10 years.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin claims that in 2021, US President Joe Biden offered him to postpone Ukraine's accession to NATO for 10-15 years. He said this during a press conference, UNN reports with reference to TASS.

"Back in 2021, the current President Biden, he offered me exactly that - to postpone Ukraine's accession to NATO for 10-15 years, because it is not ready yet," Putin told reporters, answering a question about President-elect Donald Trump's emerging team allegedly stating that the conflict could be frozen if Ukraine's accession to NATO was postponed for 10-20 years.

According to the Russian dictator, during a conversation with Biden, he "replied that yes, Ukraine is not ready.

"But you will prepare it and accept it. From a historical point of view - distance and timing - this is a moment. For us, it doesn't matter if it's today, tomorrow or in 10 years," Putin said.

He added that in this sense he was not familiar with the statements of the future Trump team. "But if that's the case, what's the difference between the current administration and the proposals you just mentioned. There is no difference," Putin said.

"I don't know how this situation will develop further, what will be the instructions from the president-elect to his colleagues. We'll see," the Russian dictator said.

AddendumAddendum

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced that Moscow is ready for talks with the administration of US President-elect Donald Trump.

The future US special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg condemned the actions of the Russian Federation, which launched a large-scale attack on the territory of Ukraine on December 25, and noted that Christmas should be a time of peace, not brutal attacks.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has statedthat Ukraine cannot make territorial concessions in exchange for peace and must rely on diplomatic pressure.

Earlier, UNN wrote about Volodymyr Zelenskyy's statement that Ukraine cannot legally recognize the occupied territories as Russian. But diplomatically, we need to achieve our goals, which are sustainable, secure and faster peace for Ukraine.
