A 39-year-old Polish man, whose details have not been released, is in the dock. He is accused of hitting Frederiksen while walking in a city square in Copenhagen. The perpetrator was immediately arrested after the attack and taken into custody.
In the assault trial, which opened today in a Copenhagen court, the accused said he "does not remember anything" and denied any responsibility.

"The streets were full of people when a man approached Ms. Frederiksen, who was on the phone at the time. He said something incomprehensible to her and, as he passed by, hit her hard on the shoulder," one of the bodyguards said.
