As Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre noted, artillery ammunition is one of the key needs for the Ukrainian army.

Therefore, it is important that Norway contributes to replenishing Ukraine's ammunition stocks. This is a great need that Ukrainians clearly convey to us, and that European countries are working on together

- said Jonas Gahr Støre.

Norway is providing NOK 4 billion  to the Czech initiative to purchase artillery shells for Ukraine worldwide. Norway also allocated funds to the Czech initiative in 2024.

Another NOK 1 billion is being provided to the EPF, through which the EU also finances military assistance to Ukraine – the contribution will also be used to purchase artillery ammunition.

Europe must take greater responsibility for supporting Ukraine in its fight for freedom. Our contributions to the European Peace Fund and our joint support for the Czech initiative underscore that Europe stands with Ukraine

- Støre noted.

Earlier, Norway supported the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine from Norwegian manufacturers in cooperation with other Nordic countries, and also transferred shells from its warehouses and shared technologies so that the shells could be produced in Ukraine under license.
