Near Kyiv, the owner of two Cane Corso dogs that mauled a 79-year-old neighbor to death has been detained; the animals have been seized and taken to a canine center, UNN reports, citing the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The dog owner was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the dogs were seized and taken to a canine center. Initial investigative actions are ongoing, and all circumstances of the incident are being established.

Under the procedural supervision of the Boryspil District Prosecutor's Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the fact of causing death by negligence (Part 1 of Article 119 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to preliminary data, on June 19 at approximately 3:40 p.m. in the city of Boryspil, two Cane Corso dogs ran out of a private household through a loosely closed gate and entered a neighboring yard, where they attacked a person.

As a result of the attack by the animals, the 79-year-old woman sustained severe bodily injuries. The victim was hospitalized, where she died.
