The Moscow oil refinery, hit by Ukrainian FP-1 drones, will not be able to operate for at least six months. The plant was the largest fuel supplier for the Moscow region.

The Moscow oil refinery, which was attacked twice by Ukrainian FP-1 drones manufactured by Fire Point, will not be able to operate for at least another six months. This was reported by Reuters, citing its own sources, writes UNN.

"Repairs will take at least six months," the agency quotes a source familiar with the oil refining industry.

According to the publication, the damaged Moscow refinery is the largest supplier of fuel to the Moscow region. This significantly complicates efforts to overcome the fuel shortage across the world's largest country by territory, Russia.

In 2024, the Moscow refinery processed 11.6 million metric tons of oil, producing 2.9 million tons of gasoline and 3.2 million tons of diesel fuel.

The agency added that Gazprom Neft, the operator of the facility, did not respond to a request from journalists.

At the same time, according to media reports, Russia is considering a ban on diesel exports, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Vedomosti newspaper reported that the possibility of importing fuel to overcome the shortage is being considered, especially in Crimea, where gasoline sales to the public have been suspended.

Recall

Russia was attacked by drones, particularly on the night of June 18. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed strikes on the Moscow refinery and in the Rostov region. He thanked the military of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the strikes deep inside Russian territory, which were carried out by modernized FP-1 drones manufactured by the Ukrainian company Fire Point, and stated that the plan for long-range sanctions is being implemented.

Footage has emerged online of Ukrainian FP-1 drones over the Russian capital, which the Pantsir system unsuccessfully attempts to shoot down. This is the second strike on the Moscow refinery.

Prior to this, on June 16, drone attacks on oil facilities were recorded in the Moscow region and the Krasnodar Krai of Russia. Footage was also posted online showing an FP-1 strike drone, created by Fire Point for deep strikes on enemy territory, maneuvering in the sky over Moscow. Analysts point out that the damaged refinery is located approximately 15 kilometers from the Kremlin.

Also in Russia, reports recently emerged of a drone attack on the Tyumen Oil Refinery (formerly the Antipinsky Refinery). Ukrainian drones also struck the infrastructure of the Kavkaz seaport in the Krasnodar Krai — the tank farm of the oil product transshipment complex and the territory of the oil depot were hit.

After a series of Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries, Russians began experiencing problems with fuel.
