The commander of a military unit and his deputy have been notified of suspicion for causing over UAH 11 million in damages to the state. According to the investigation, in 2022, the officials approved supplementary agreements without proper calculations, unjustifiably increasing the cost of generators and power stations for the AFU by 14%. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, according to UNN.
As part of the "Dishonest Procurement" program, prosecutors of the Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Central Region notified the commander of one of the military units and his deputy of suspicion
According to the investigation, in 2022, the military unit entered into a series of contracts with commercial enterprises for the supply of such equipment for a total amount of over UAH 400 million. Subsequently, the officials, together with a representative of the supplier, initiated a change in the procurement terms, citing exchange rate fluctuations and an alleged increase in logistics costs.
On the basis of supplementary agreements, the cost of generators and power stations was increased by 14%, although the law allowed an increase of no more than 10%.
The documents used to justify the price increase did not contain proper calculations or evidence, and some of the grounds cited did not correspond to the actual circumstances. Despite this, the changes to the contracts were approved.
As a result, the military unit paid the suppliers at inflated prices, while the volume of equipment supplies was reduced.
According to the investigation's findings, over UAH 11 million in damages were caused to the state. The suspects' actions are qualified under Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court ordered preventive measures in the form of bail amounting to UAH 1 million each.
