The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk met with the President of the French National Assembly Yaelle Bron-Pivet, who is on a working visit to Ukraine. The politicians discussed, among other things, Ukraine's defense needs and the freezing of Russian assets. The speaker of the parliament wrote about this on his Facebook page, UNN reports.
We discussed cooperation in the defense sector. He noted that he was looking forward to further supplies of weapons and military equipment, as well as to launching long-term projects with French defense companies
According to him, special attention was paid to Ukraine's defense needs. First of all, it was about the protection of Ukraine's airspace and additional air defense systems, long-range missiles, air support and strengthening the capabilities of tactical aviation.
Stefanchuk also emphasized the importance of the signed agreement on security cooperation between Ukraine and France and thanked the French parliament for supporting the document.
In addition, the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada expressed gratitude for France's decision to freeze Russian assets.
"Now it is important to find a legal mechanism to direct these assets to rebuild Ukraine and compensate Ukraine for its losses," Stefanchuk said.
The parties also reportedly discussed Ukraine's path to the EU and NATO, and the implementation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula.
Earlier, UNN reported that today the head of the National Assembly of France, Yael Bron-Pivet, arrived in the capital of Ukraine.
French Armed Forces Minister Sebastian Lecornu said he was ready to use his powers to speed up the production of weapons and shells needed by Ukraine.
