Universal Pictures promoted Christopher Nolan's epic adaptation of "The Odyssey" at CinemaCon, UNN reports, citing Variety.
Details
Jim Orr, head of distribution at the studio, predicted on Wednesday that the film, which is still in production, will be "a visionary, unique cinematic masterpiece that Homer himself would probably be proud of." He seemed serious, but the audience of theater owners (and perhaps one or two casual fans of the classics) laughed at the exaggeration, the publication notes.
Orr also spoke of Nolan's "stunning stellar cast." No one seemed to object to this, given that Nolan, on the wave of the Oscar-winning "Oppenheimer," has assembled a cast that includes Matt Damon as Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, as well as Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron (no information on which mythical characters they play).
At the same time, Universal had no footage from Nolan's latest film to share.
Nolan's film will be released in theaters on July 17, 2026.
