On August 2, a 51-year-old man reported to the police that he had been ordered to kill a resident of Kryvyi Rih.
"Under police supervision, he gave preliminary consent to commit the crime, after which he received an advance payment of a third of the amount from the customer. The suspect was to pay another $10,000 after providing evidence of the murder. The proof that the man was really dead was to be his photo with bodily injuries," the statement said.
According to the police, in order to protect the victim and detain the customer, the police had to imitate the crime.
On August 15, during an investigative and operational combination, the customer was handed over photos and video materials that allegedly confirmed the fact of the murder at a personal meeting, according to the police.
"The KORD special forces detained the suspect when he was paying for the "work" he had done," the police said.
Investigators served the offender a notice of suspicion under Part 1 Article 14, Clause 11, Part 2 Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (preparation for a contract murder). He faces up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.
