Ukrainian Kovalchuk sets world record at Modern Pentathlon World Cup stage

Yuriy Kovalchuk won bronze at the World Cup stage in Budapest. He set a world record in the laser run with a result of 9:58.580.

At the third stage of the Modern Pentathlon World Cup, hosted last weekend in Budapest, Hungary, Ukrainian pentathlete Yuriy Kovalchuk climbed to the third step of the podium and etched his name into the list of world record holders. This was reported by the NOC of Ukraine, according to UNN.

In the final of the competition, Kovalchuk delivered the best result in history in the laser run — 9:58.580, earning 702 points. Before the start of the final discipline, the Ukrainian was in 13th position, but his record-breaking performance allowed him to make up ten places and secure the bronze medal,

Yuriy's result has been officially added to the list of world records by the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne (UIPM).
