Details

We are talking about a former employee of a telecommunications company from Kupiansk who supported the aggressor after the city was captured. For this, in the spring of 2022, the occupiers appointed him "technical director" of a local telecommunications provider.

Then the defendant immediately ordered to "cut off" subscribers from broadcasting Ukrainian TV channels and Internet services. Instead of our country's broadcasters, the collaborator "connected" most of the city and neighboring villages to RosTv. In this way, the racists used the technological capabilities of the local provider to massively spread Kremlin propaganda among the community,

- the statement said.

After the liberation of the district center, the collaborator moved to Kharkiv, where he tried to avoid justice by constantly changing the addresses of his rented apartments.

SBU officers tracked down the offender and detained him at his place of temporary residence in the regional center.

In addition, his accomplice was identified. He was another resident of Kupyansk, who during the occupation got a job as a "financial director" of a local TV provider.

On the eve of the community's liberation, he fled with Russian troops to the temporarily occupied part of the territory in eastern Ukraine.

Based on the evidence collected by the SBU officers, the detainee was served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 Art. 28, Part 6 Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaboration). The offender is in custody. He faces 12 years in prison.

The criminal actions of his accomplice, who is hiding in the temporarily occupied part of the territory of our country, are qualified under the same article.
