Today, the first flight from Amsterdam landed at Ben Gurion Airport carrying Israeli fans who were victims of anti-Semitic attacks after a soccer match in the Dutch capital. Maccabi Tel Aviv fans who came to support their team in the Europa League game against Ajax Amsterdam faced aggression from local fans, which provoked concern and condemnation from Israeli and Dutch officials.

After the match, which ended in a convincing victory for Ajax, local fans attacked groups of Israeli fans, despite the peaceful atmosphere at the stadium and the increased police presence. The attacks resulted in at least five Israelis being hospitalized with injuries of varying severity.
El Al Airlines promptly organized six additional flights to evacuate the remaining fans from Amsterdam.
