On the eve of the winter holidays, a campaign was launched to monitor the legality of harvesting and selling coniferous trees. This is reported by the state environmental Inspectorate in the Transcarpathian region, reports UNN.
Details
The state environmental Inspectorate, together with law enforcement and forest protection, conducts raids in forests and on trading platforms to prevent violations.
Special attention is paid to electronic chips with barcodes that confirm the legality of the origin of trees. At the points of sale of Christmas trees, compliance with the documentation is checked.
Violators face significant fines. According to the Administrative Code, illegal logging or sale of Christmas trees can cost citizens up to 5,100 hryvnias, and entrepreneurs and officials – even more expensive. In case of significant losses, criminal liability is provided with the possibility of imprisonment for up to seven years.
The environmental Inspectorate encourages citizens to buy Christmas trees only at official points of sale and participate in the conservation of Natural Resources.
