In Kyiv, proceedings were opened over the brutal beating of an 11-year-old Toy Terrier. Investigators seized the injured animal and transferred it to a specialized shelter. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Kyiv police.
"A local resident reported to the Holosiivskyi police department via the 102 special line that her ex-husband was abusing an animal," the statement said.
The woman reportedly provided police with video footage showing a 30-year-old man abusing a dog in the presence of their young child because the dog was relieving itself in a place other than the one designated for that purpose
"Investigators seized the injured animal and transferred it to a specialized shelter, where it is being provided with the necessary assistance. Criminal proceedings over the incident have been initiated under Part 1 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - cruelty to animals," the police said.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The sanction of Article provides for a sentence of up to three years in prison.
