The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated that it was informed of a "significant increase in drone activity" near Ukrainian nuclear power plants amid massive Russian attacks, UNN reports.
The IAEA received information about a significant increase in drone activity near the sites of Ukrainian NPPs this week. On May 13-14, more than 160 UAVs were recorded flying near the sites of the South Ukraine, Chornobyl, and Rivne NPPs,
As noted, "while IAEA teams do not report a direct impact on nuclear safety at these sites, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi expresses deep concern about such military activity near NPPs and reiterates the need for full compliance with the 7 indispensable pillars for ensuring nuclear safety during a conflict." Director General Grossi, as noted, "also again calls for maximum restraint to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident."
