During King Charles and Queen Camilla's visit to the US, Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump stepped out of the White House to greet them as their car pulled up to the South Portico for a state dinner.
Trump and Charles shook hands, while the First Lady and the Queen kissed each other on both cheeks. The Trumps and the royals then posed for a photograph, after which Trump quickly turned back to the King for a quiet conversation.

They posed for a few seconds, continuing to converse during the photo session, before heading inside.
The US President and the King were dressed in black tailcoats for the state dinner, while the First Lady and the Queen wore pink gowns: the Queen in a darker shade and the First Lady in a lighter one.
According to Buckingham Palace, the Queen wore an evening gown by Fiona Clare with an amethyst and diamond necklace, originally given by the former Duchess of Kent to Queen Victoria, which then passed to Queen Mary. Camilla did not wear a tiara, an unexpected departure from typical royal protocol for senior female members of the British Royal Family attending state dinners.
The First Lady wore a gown by Christian Dior Haute Couture, cream-colored suede gloves by Dior, and Dior pumps in light delphinium blue silk.
