Geographical names in the temporarily occupied Crimea will be will be returned to their historical names in the Crimean Tatar language. This was discussed at a the meeting of the National Commission on the Crimean Tatar Language, UNN reports. with reference to the Ministry of Reintegration.

The National Commission for the Crimean Tatar Language continues to preparations for the implementation of the Law on Condemnation and Prohibition of Propaganda of Russian imperial policy in Ukraine and the decolonization of place names.
The day before, they discussed the use of place names that have place names that are of Turkic origin or historical Crimean Tatar names.
Mechanisms are currently being agreed upon that will allow to apply the spelling of place names using Latin script in media and scientific works. Also, on road signs and in the production of maps. For this purpose This will be done through communication with mapping service operators and services that maintain such signs.
As a result of the meeting, the National Commission instructed the government to develop a corresponding government decision. This issue will be handled by the Ministry of Infrastructure together with the Ministry of Reintegration and the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea, Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and the Institute of National Memory.
