In 2024, Brovary signed seven new ESCO contracts that cover both educational facilities and municipal infrastructure. Through these measures, the community reduces budget expenditures and reduces CO2 emissions, moving towards energy independence. This was stated in an exclusive comment UNN by Brovarsky Mayor Igor Sapozhko.
"Our community has experience in implementing the ESCO mechanism since 2019, when the first two energy service contracts for preschool educational institutions were signed. Thanks to the installation of individual heating points, it was possible to exceed the expected level of heat energy savings. This made it possible to complete the contracts ahead of schedule, transfer the equipment to the balance sheet of institutions and direct the saved funds to the needs of institutions," said Brovary Mayor Igor Sapozhko.
In 2024, the community continued to implement energy-efficient measures, concluding seven Escodogovorov, in particular for preschool educational institutions and lyceums. "Among the key measures are complex thermal modernization, insulation of walls and attics, installation of ITP (individual heating points – ed.) with automatic weather — dependent regulation, as well as solar power plants for their own consumption," the mayor added.
Igor Sapozhko separately noted the innovation of the community in the implementation of ESCO contracts in municipal enterprises. "This year, for the first time, we signed ESCO contracts for critical infrastructure facilities. The Municipal enterprise Brovariteplovodoenergy is installing powerful solar power plants, which will be an important step towards energy independence and reducing CO2 emissions," he said.
According to the mayor, GEF/UNDP specialists provided advisory support and technical support in the implementation of energy-efficient initiatives in the community. "I sincerely thank the experts for their help on our way to a more sustainable and energy — efficient community," Igor Sapozhko said.
These achievements highlight the desire of the Brovary community to be a leader in energy efficiency and prove that such innovative approaches can make Ukrainian cities energy independent and environmentally conscious.
He also added that during the conference "removing barriers to promoting investment in energy efficiency of public buildings in small and medium-sized cities of Ukraine through the application of the ESCO mechanism", the Brovary territorial community was awarded gratitude for significant development in the development of ecgo-efficiency and green transition of Ukraine and cooperation with the GEF/UNDP project.
recall
The Brovary community is a prime example of implementing energy-efficient solutions. Here the Municipal enterprise "Brovariteplovodoenergy "received a cogeneration plant with a capacity of 260 kW from USAID. The equipment that will be installed at one of the company's facilities will be a step towards increasing the energy independence of the community.
According to Brovarsky Mayor Igor Sapozhko, the community will soon receive two more similar installations. "This will significantly strengthen the energy stability of our city and provide heat and light not only to residents, but also to maintain critical infrastructure," he said.
Solar panels have already been installed or are being installed at some municipal facilities, where possible, and local authorities plan to develop this area in the future.
In addition, in the Brovarsky community of the Kiev region, some of the boiler houses that provide heat to important social facilities operate on alternative fuels. According to Igor Sapozhko, thanks to cooperation with international partners, solar panels were installed on the buildings of the Brovary multidisciplinary and children's hospitals.
