Prosecutors forced the general contractor for the construction of the Podilsko-Voskresenskyi Bridge to remove the illegal construction waste dump on Trukhaniv Island and pay UAH 130,000 to the budget. UNN reports this with reference to the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
"The Podil District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv has ensured that the general contractor for the construction of the Podil-Voskresensky Bridge fully compensated the general contractor for the damage caused by the pollution and contamination of the land plot on Trukhaniv Island. Waste harmful to human life and health was dumped there," the statement said.
The prosecutor's office reminded that the head of the construction site of a private company was notified of suspicion of contamination of land with waste harmful to life, health or the environment and abuse of office (part 1 of Article 239, part 1 of Article 364-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
"It has been established that the land plot was turned into a landfill in collusion with officials of two subcontracting organizations in order to save money allocated for garbage collection. The conclusions of the examination confirmed that the amount of damage caused to the environment by such actions is almost 130 thousand hryvnias," the prosecutor's office informs.
Also, according to the calculation of the State Ecological Service of the Capital District, the amount of damage from land pollution by solid household and construction waste was established at UAH 4.9 million.
"Currently, the company has compensated losses in the form of land pollution in the amount of almost UAH 130 thousand by transferring them to the treasury account of the State Treasury in Kyiv. The damage from land pollution by construction waste was compensated by completely cleaning the territory from garbage," the statement said.
