The G7 countries reaffirmed their support for the political process in Syria and called for the formation of a new inclusive government. The leaders emphasized the need to bring the Assad regime to justice and destroy chemical weapons.

The G7 countries reaffirmed their commitment to the people of Syria and expressed their full support for an inclusive political process that will be conducted with the participation of the Syrian people. This was reported by the White House, according to UNN.

Details

The leaders called on all parties to the conflict to respect the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Syria. They also expressed support for the UN efforts to monitor the situation in the Golan Heights between Israel and Syria. 

The G7 countries have expressed their readiness to support the transition process, which should lead to the establishment of a transparent, inclusive and non-sectarian government that respects the rule of law, human rights, including women's rights, and ensures the protection of all groups, including ethnic and religious minorities. 

In addition, the G7 emphasized the need to bring the Assad regime to justice for the crimes committed in recent years. The G7 countries will also continue to cooperate with the OPCW to destroy the remaining stockpiles of chemical weapons in Syria. 

The leaders condemned all manifestations of terrorism and extremism, and called for international cooperation to restore the country, stability and create conditions for the safe and voluntary return of refugees.
