The international company MHP implements a reintegration program for veterans that takes into account individual needs, from treatment and adaptation to entrepreneurial initiatives. The program, called MHP Next Door, provides individualized guidance and comprehensive support to military personnel, veterans and their families. This includes humanitarian aid, treatment and rehabilitation, legal and psychological support, social reintegration and professional adaptation, UNN reports with reference to dsnews.ua.
Home is the first place after service
Taking care of families - is an important part of reintegration, so MHP is improving the procedure for providing psychological and social support.
"And this is individualized support, because each case is unique and includes different challenges and situations," the company says.
Together with the Veteran Hub and psychologists, MHP initiated the creation of an anonymous and free support group.
"It is a safe place where families with similar experiences will receive help at different stages of difficult life situations," MHP adds.
It is important to be there 24/7
The company has also created a Center for Interaction with the Military and Veterans. The driving force behind it is the coordinators.
Every day, the program provides:
⁃ legal support,
⁃ psychological assistance,
⁃ treatment/rehabilitation services,
⁃ professional retraining,
⁃ other support within the framework of social adaptation.
Recovery and adaptation to community life
It is known that defenders systematically lack professional support and rehabilitation. That is why the company focuses on equipping rehabilitation facilities. For example, the Myronivka Rehabilitation Hospital in Kyiv Oblast opened a rehabilitation room that specializes in the restoration of the musculoskeletal system and nervous system.
More than 120 soldiers and veterans have already undergone rehabilitation as part of the program. Another important component of rehabilitation is adaptive sports training. They are held in different communities: veterans who were wounded in the war shoot archery, play wheelchair basketball, ride a handbike and throw the shot put.
Stimulation of veteran entrepreneurship
MHP believes that one of the key ways to reintegrate veterans is to promote their entrepreneurial activities. Therefore, the company supports veteran entrepreneurs with expertise and grants as part of the program.
In April 2023. MHP, together with its strategic partner MHP-Gromada and the Ukrainian Veterans Fund, initiated the #Worth Doing Your Own competition with a budget of UAH 15 million. Veterans, their wives and families of the fallen received financial support from UAH 500 thousand to UAH 1.5 million to start and expand their own businesses.
This comprehensive and systematic approach has been recognized both in Ukraine and globally. In particular, last year the MHP Next Door program was recognized by the International Business Culture Award as the best corporate social responsibility initiative.
Financial stability during and after service
MHP is one of the few companies in Ukraine that has been paying salaries to its mobilized employees since the beginning of the full-scale war and has been providing financial stability to their families. In total, over UAH 1 billion and UAH 82 million in salaries have been paid to the military by MHP since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
"When defenders return from the war, the company does everything possible to ensure their successful reintegration into the workforce. If their health condition allows, veterans have the opportunity to return to their previous positions. If there are difficulties, the employer offers alternative positions that take into account the capabilities of each person," says MHP.
The company also adapts offices and production facilities for people with special needs. The company provides financial assistance to families and comprehensive support in solving everyday problems faced by the families of defenders while they are fighting at the front.
