Former Malian Minister of Education and Science Mountaga Tall has been abducted from his home in the capital, Bamako, by armed men. This was reported by the Associated Press, according to UNN.

According to his relative Mahmoud Touré, the attack occurred shortly before midnight on Saturday. A group of hooded men burst into the house, failed to identify themselves, and did not explain the reasons for the detention.

"They did not explain why and did not present an arrest warrant. The soldiers mistreated Mountaga Tall's wife and took his phone,"

Touré said.

Who is Tall

Mountaga Tall served as Minister of Education and Science from 2016 to 2017. He also leads a political party that opposes the military authorities in the country.

As a lawyer, Tall represents politicians and others who have been detained for criticizing the ruling junta.
