Russia continues to actively advertise participation in hostilities against Ukraine among foreigners as a way to earn 2.2 thousand dollars and get a Russian passport. This is reported by British intelligence, UNN writes.
Russia is actively advertising and trying to attract foreign nationals to join its armed forces to fight in the war with Ukraine. A recently released English-language leaflet offers to join a "special" unit with the promise of a monthly salary of $2,200, a $2,000 bonus, a Russian passport, free medical care and education.
In 2023, online recruitment ads targeting citizens of neighboring countries such as Armenia and Kazakhstan actively appeared, offering a monthly salary of $1973 and signing a contract for $5,140. Throughout the year, Russia also attracted Central Asian migrants staying on its territory. Recently, there have been reports that migrants from India and Nepal have been recruited and sent to fight in Ukraine.
"It is likely that many of those who have been recruited are not professional soldiers but migrant workers and have been coerced into fighting under false pretenses or by offering financial incentives," writes British intelligence.
According to them, the number of foreigners in Russia is likely to be limited, and they will be integrated into existing units instead of forming "special" units. russia is likely to avoid additional unpopular steps of internal mobilization, given the high losses, estimated at 913 people per day.
