In Ternopil, Zhytomyr and Chernivtsi regions, the epidemic threshold for COVID and influenza has been exceeded. These regions may introduce  certain restrictive anti-epidemic measures, Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin said during a telethon, reports a correspondent of UNN.

Ihor Kuzin noted that Ukraine has received vaccines against COVID-19 and it is provided to absolutely all regions. Kuzin emphasized that the vaccine is effective against all strains of coronavirus that are currently being registered in Ukraine.

As already noted, we have 13 strains of COVID circulating in Ukraine. Indeed, it is necessary to be vaccinated, given that we are now seeing a significant deterioration in the morbidity situation, given the winter period

 , Kuzin said.

He added that among the cases of morbidity, 50% of hospitalizations are registered among children. In addition, three regions of Ukraine have exceeded the epidemic threshold.

"These are Ternopil, Zhytomyr, and Chernivtsi regions. There are already higher rates than the standard for this period. That is, these regions can already introduce certain restrictive anti-epidemic measures," Kuzin said.

According to him, since the beginning of the epidemic season, more than a million Ukrainians have already contracted the flu and coronavirus. On average, 4,200-4,300 patients are hospitalized in a week.

"The incidence of COVID is also growing, over the past week it has increased by 20%, unfortunately, but it is definitely growing among children. Both resuscitation cases and fatalities are also recorded. For example, last week 56 people died of coronavirus infection, including one child," Kuzin summarized.

As a reminder

An updated version of the vaccine from the American company Pfizer against the Omicron strain of the coronavirus has been delivered to Ukraine thanks to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and will be distributed to all regions.
