A heavy downpour in the Bucegi mountain range caused a flash flood in the Romanian resort town of Bușteni, sweeping away cars and people, with one woman suffering severe injuries. Due to the bad weather, authorities convened the Ministerial Committee for Emergency Situations, reports Digi24, writes UNN.

After intense rainfall in the Jepilor Valley, the level of the Jepi River rose sharply and overflowed its banks. Water flows, along with logs, stones, and sand, flooded part of the national road DN1, and one district of Bușteni was temporarily cut off from the rest of the town.
Authorities mobilized emergency services
Romania's Minister of Environment, Diana Buzoianu, convened the Ministerial Committee for Emergency Situations to assess the situation and coordinate actions. According to her, atmospheric instability can intensify rapidly, so meteorological and hydrological warnings are being updated in real time.

According to the National Meteorological Administration, from July 19 to 21, yellow and orange danger levels are in effect in various regions of the country due to heat, heavy downpours, thunderstorms, hail, and squally winds.
Rescuers, local authorities, and special services are working to clear the bed of the Jepi stream and pump water out of flooded homes. Excavators, mountain rescuers, and firefighters have been deployed to deal with the aftermath of the natural disaster.
Traffic on the highway partially restored
Traffic on the DN1 route towards Brașov has already been restored, while the lane towards Ploiești remained closed as of the latest update. Police urged drivers to be cautious and follow law enforcement instructions.
According to the Ministry of Environment, the main rivers have not yet exceeded critical levels, and the biggest problems were caused by rapid flows from the slopes. All relevant services continue to monitor the situation, and the RO-ALERT system is operating normally to promptly inform the public.
