Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Ankara on Tuesday, and the following day held talks with Erdoğan. The Palestinian leader called the meeting important and productive.
Separately, Erdoğan welcomed Palestine's decision to hold parliamentary elections on November 28 and presidential elections in early 2027. If the elections take place, they will be the first Palestinian elections at this level in two decades.

Abbas also supported the defense pact signed by Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan on August 7. He called the agreement "extremely important" and expressed hope that it would help strengthen security and stability in the region.
