Electronic Arts has released a new series of EA Sports FC 27, featuring new game mechanics, new modes, and for the first time in several years, the return of the football club "Richmond" along with the women's team led by the legendary Ted Lasso and the return of Alex Hunter. As the developers indicate, the new mode will allow players to explore a football ground where street football meets professional football.
"Explore a social football ground where street football meets professional football. From Kickabout games and 1-on-1 matches to teaming up with friends in Clubs — interact with famous football mentors and improve your skills to make your mark on and off the pitch. The Grounds mode, including Clubs, is available only on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2," the developers stated.
New gameplay features
The developers assure that gamers will gain an improved understanding of the game in space.
"Teammates will better recognize space and passing intent, using overlapping runs and through balls both automatically and on demand," the developers note.
Also, according to them, the dribbling system during loss of balance is changing. Thus, the game "rewards agile dribblers by allowing them to maintain momentum during contact, respond to physical challenges with controlled imbalance, and rewarding skillful ball handling in one-on-one situations."
Corner kicks have also been reworked, allowing real-time control over defensive positioning and attacking tactics, providing greater freedom of movement for precise runs into the penalty area, as well as improved simulation of two-player aerial duels for more competitive headers.
Career mode
It is reported that in Career mode, gamers will get an updated transfer market, which will show the real value of each player.
"Master new negotiation tactics, including performance-related clauses and buyout clauses, as dynamic OVR ratings reflect players' form, morale, and fitness at each club," the developers add.
Return of FC "Richmond" and Alex Hunter's story
The game's release shows that the football club "Richmond" and Alex Hunter's story will return in the new series.
"Richmond" is the team from the series "Ted Lasso," the 4th season of which is scheduled to be released in August this year. The team, led by Ted Lasso, along with players including Jamie Tartt, Dani Rojas, Sam Obisanya, Roy Kent, Isaac McAdoo, Thierry Zoreaux, and others, first appeared in the FIFA 23 series.

Also, for the first time in 7 years, Alex Hunter returns - a fictional English footballer and the main character of the iconic story mode "The Journey" in the football simulators FIFA 17, FIFA 18, and FIFA 19.
New players
New player cards will be added to Ultimate Team mode, featuring players who have left a significant mark on the history of the game itself, rather than world football.
In particular, cards of Adebayo Akinfenwa, Marouane Fellaini, Loïc Rémy, Eljero Elia, and Giovani dos Santos will appear.

EA SPORTS FC™ 27 will be released worldwide on September 25, 2026, in three editions, depending on your play style.
Choose among the Ultimate Plus, Ultimate, or standard versions. Each version includes the full version of EA SPORTS FC 27, while the Ultimate Plus and Ultimate versions also allow you to start the game 7 days early and receive additional in-game content.
The Ultimate Plus edition will be released 7 days early, and gamers will be able to get up to 10,000 FC Points.
