The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, has reacted to the commission of another war crime by Russians in the Zaporizhzhia region. This concerns an order by a Russian unit commander to behead two fallen Ukrainian servicemen, UNN reports, citing Lubinets' post on Telegram.

The desecration of the bodies of fallen soldiers is yet another confirmation of the systematic cruelty of the Russians and a gross violation of international humanitarian law. This is a war crime that has no statute of limitations and absolutely requires investigation and punishment of the perpetrators

The Ombudsman also sent official letters to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations. Separately, he appealed to the citizens of Ukraine with a call to immediately report war crimes to the Ukrainian Ombudsman's "hotline" at 1678 and to law enforcement agencies.

Any information helps in the investigation of war crimes and in bringing the perpetrators to justice
