Today, Ukraine celebrates the Day of the First Constitution. It was adopted at a meeting of the Cossacks near Tyagin (now Bender) on April 5, 1710. Today, the "Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk" celebrates its 315th anniversary, reports UNN.

Day of the First Constitution of Ukraine

The Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk is a monument of Ukrainian political-philosophical and legal thought. According to Ukrainian historians, it is one of the first European constitutions of modern times. However, the memory of it began to return only with the acquisition of Ukraine's independence.

The original document in Old Ukrainian was discovered in 2008 in the Russian State Archive, but Russia refused to hand it over to Ukraine.

On April 9, 2010, a monument to the Constitution was opened in Bendery, erected in honor of its 300th anniversary.

On August 10, 2021, on the 30th anniversary of Independence, the Latin version of the Constitution of Pylyp Orlyk was delivered to Ukraine for the first time, which was temporarily exhibited in the National Reserve "Sophia of Kyiv". In the same year, copies of the Orlyk Constitution were exhibited in the Parliament of Ukraine and the Office of the President.

Day of Pure Karma

This day has been celebrated since 2005 on the first Saturday of April. This year, this date falls on the 5th day of the month. The holiday aims to raise awareness about recycling and reusing waste.

Its name is no coincidence. The concept of karma exists in many cultures and its essence is that there is a relationship between actions and consequences. Therefore, initiatives related to environmental and social changes that will resonate in the future are organized for the holiday.

For example, on this day, many organizations hold actions to clean up the environment, recycle waste, and organize thematic events that contribute to improving the environment.

International Day of Conscience

On July 25, 2019, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring April 5 the International Day of Conscience.

This day aims to encourage the world community to cooperate in building sustainable peace and harmony through tolerance, inclusiveness, understanding and solidarity.

The first International Day of Conscience was celebrated on April 5, 2020 against the background of global upheavals caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Day of Praise of the Blessed Virgin

This holiday was founded in Constantinople. In 626, the army of Scythians and Saracens approached the city. Frightened residents turned to the Virgin Mary in prayer and the capital of Byzantium was saved.

Since then, the Virgin Mary has been considered the patroness of the city, in which many temples were built in her honor.

Later, the holiday spread throughout the Christian world. Believers turn to the Virgin Mary every fifth Saturday of Lent (this year it falls on April 5) to ask for protection from visible and invisible enemies.

As with most church holidays, on this day you should not quarrel, swear loudly, do housework or work in the garden, throw parties, especially with alcohol.
