The French prosecutor's office has closed a case on damage to fiber-optic cables in a fan zone near the castle of Vincennes during the Olympic Games in Paris. It turned out that the cause of these injuries was a weasel. This is reported by the publication BFMTV, reports UNN.
"The Paris prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into several cuts of fiber-optic cables in the fan zone of the 2024 Olympic Games in the Chateau de Vincennes. Finally, after checking the images from surveillance cameras, the investigators found that the cause of these injuries was a weasel," the newspaper writes.
It is noted that in recent days, the fan zone of the 2024 Olympic Games in Chateau de Vincennes has fallen victim to two sections of fiber-optic cable. On July 29, facility managers noted that the cable located under the moat of the castle was cut in eight different places.
The next day, the second failure occurred again. And another one - on Saturday, August 3.
"After analyzing clear sections of cables, as well as video surveillance, the facts are classified as espionage, and the procedure is closed for no violations," the prosecutor's office said.
The city's technicians extended the new cable further so that it would no longer get in the way of the weasel and avoid further cuts.
Recall
In France, four coordinated sabotage operations were carried out on the railway network of high-speed trains. About 800 thousand passengers were affected by failures.
Also, as a result of the attacks on three major high-speed TGV lines in western, northern and eastern France, fiber-optic cables laid near the tracks and providing safety information for drivers, such as warning lights and arrows, were cut and set on fire.
