MP Mykola Kniazhytskyi registered bill No. 15186 on punishment for Ukrainophobia. The document provides for responsibility for contempt of language and nation.

A bill has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada that provides for the introduction of criminal liability for Ukrainophobia. This is reported by UNN with reference to bill No. 15186.

Details

The draft law "On Amendments to Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine Regarding the Establishment of Liability for Ukrainophobia" was registered by People's Deputy Mykola Kniazhytskyi from the "European Solidarity" faction. Currently, the text of the bill is not available on the Rada's website.

On Facebook, Kniazhytskyi wrote that Ukrainophobia is proposed to be considered as intentional actions that harm the state: public calls to deny Ukraine's subjectivity and the right of Ukrainians to self-determination; justification of assimilation or subjugation of the Ukrainian people; public contempt for language, culture, and national characteristics with the aim of undermining our identity.

Ukrainophobia must receive a clear legal assessment, and offenders must be held accountable. This is a matter of national security, protection of every Ukrainian, our history, and our future.
