The Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv today, July 29, began considering the extension of the preventive measure for the perpetrator of the accident on Karavaevi Dachi in Kyiv, which killed four people. UNN reports.

Details

It concerns 49-year-old Pavlo Pleshyvtsev, who on June 5 lost control of his car, flew off the road at high speed, and crashed into an underground pedestrian crossing. Four people died then:

  • kindergarten worker Iryna Lazarieva;
    • Senior Lieutenant of the Solomianskyi Police Department - 24-year-old Dmytro Bondarchuk;
      • Lieutenant of the Solomianskyi Police Department - 21-year-old Denys Budchenko;
        • 12-year-old Hryhorii Hlushych.

          On June 8, the court already chose a preventive measure for Pleshyvtsev - detention without the possibility of bail. The term expires on July 3, so the court convened to extend it.

          The hearing is presided over by Judge Oksana Khardina.

          It is already known that Pleshyvtsev will not be at the hearing: he has health problems, so the man will join online. In this regard, the suspect's lawyers are petitioning for a closed court session to preserve medical confidentiality.

          The prosecutor, in turn, is petitioning to extend the preventive measure for 30 days without the possibility of bail.

          Note that relatives of the deceased 12-year-old teenager also came to the courtroom. They brought photos of the boy.

          What is known about the accident on Karavaevi Dachi

          On June 5 in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv. At 5:30 PM at the intersection of Vadym Hetman and Ushynskyi streets in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv, a Mercedes-Benz C300 car flew off the road at high speed and killed 4 people, including a child.

          Behind the wheel was 49-year-old Pavlo Pleshyvtsev. He also sustained injuries and was hospitalized. After the suspect regained consciousness, he said the accident occurred due to force majeure. According to Pleshyvtsev, he suddenly felt unwell behind the wheel, lost consciousness, and automatically pressed the gas pedal with his foot.

          However, the investigation claims that Pleshyvtsev has repeatedly created dangerous situations on the road and violated rules. In particular, 39 traffic violations were recorded against him, most of which concerned speeding.

          In addition, a few months earlier, in March 2026, another accident occurred involving him. There were no casualties then.
