In Ternopil, after the fire that occurred as a result of a Russian attack, the air is still polluted in some places. In particular, there is an excess of chlorine near the Ternopil Pond. This was stated by Oksana Chaichuk, Director General of the Ternopil Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, UNN reports.
Details
It is noted that there is a 2.5-fold excess of chlorine in the air near the Ternopil Pond as a result of a fire at an industrial facility in the city.
In other parts of Ternopil, the concentration of chlorine and hydrochloric acid remains within normal limits.
Currently, chlorine concentrations are exceeded in 2 of the 11 locations where air measurements were taken. Both locations are near the Ternopil Pond. This is expected because the pond is located in a lowland, chlorine binds to water and hydrochloric acid is formed. This is not dangerous, but we still recommend that Ternopil residents do not swim for 1-2 days
According to her, the condition of drinking water in the city meets all requirements. In addition, Chaychuk assured the citizens that the radiation background in Ternopil and the region does not exceed the norms and does not pose any threat to citizens.
Recall
On the night of August 20, a fire broke out at a company in Ternopil during an attack by Russian troops as a result of a hit to a container of fuel and lubricants.
No chemical compounds were released into the air as a result of the strike on the industrial facility in Ternopil. The damage caused to the environment is associated with emissions of oil combustion products into the air.
