Veterans with visual impairments will receive up to 95,000 hryvnias for adapted equipment. The government also updated the accessibility monitoring system in communities.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a series of decisions that will help make people's daily lives more accessible and comfortable. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko.

Details

From now on, Defenders who have partially or completely lost their sight will be able to receive up to 95,000 hryvnias in assistance for the purchase of adapted household appliances.

These funds can be used to purchase equipment adapted to the needs of people with visual impairments from a specified list of 26 devices—at the choice of the veteran. The assistance will be provided in cooperation with the Ukrainian Red Cross Society. The maximum payment amount is up to 95,000 hryvnias, with an additional 2,000 hryvnias provided for banking services. The payment will be made regardless of the receipt of other types of assistance,

Svyrydenko noted.

In addition, the government has updated the barrier-free monitoring system in communities.

Now, not only state institutions, transport, and infrastructure facilities will be evaluated, but also residential buildings, shops, pharmacies, banks, hotels, catering establishments, and other services that people use every day. This will help to comprehensively see the real state of accessibility in the urban environment and make communities more accessible,

Svyrydenko added.

Finally, the government adopted new rules to support the employment of people with disabilities.

Clear control mechanisms and the opportunity to receive benefits for creating jobs for people with disabilities are being introduced for employers. The new rules will come into effect on July 1, 2026, to give businesses time to adapt,

Svyrydenko summarized.
