The incident occurred on Saturday when peacekeepers were heading to a UN mission outpost in Lebanon. As a result of the shelling, one soldier was killed on the spot, and three others were wounded.
One of the wounded was evacuated to France, but later died of his injuries. Macron announced this on Wednesday.

According to preliminary data, the shelling could have been carried out by Hezbollah militants, but the group denies its involvement.
