French Ambassador Gael Veyer has expressed his readiness to provide Ukraine with significant support to ensure sustainable peace. France expects Ukraine to clearly define the assistance needed and plans technical and political preparations.

When the time comes and Ukraine asks, France should be in a position to provide Kyiv with serious support to ensure sustainable peace. This was stated by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Ukraine Gael Veyer during the presentation of the results of the sociological survey “Foreign Policy and Security. Moods of the Ukrainian society”, UNN correspondent reports.

It is worth saying that it is very important to think for the long term and think about NATO. We have no problems with this and it is very important to take risks sometimes.we need to support Ukraine more and there are always discussions about security guarantees. France, as a partner of Ukraine, has a certain responsibility to think about these guarantees and prepare. That is, when the time comes, if Ukraine asks us, we must be in a position to give serious support in order to ensure sustainable peace

- Weser said.

He noted that the momentum should come from Ukraine.

"Ukraine should determine on what basis we will talk about this and what kind of support it will be. Support also means planning what we can do and what we can't. It also requires planning in a political context. This is not something that is given just like that, because our society also needs to be explained. That is, there is a lot of thinking here and this should be discussed by Ukraine," Vesier said.

He also commented on the issue of nuclear weapons.

"Many people will talk about nuclear war. In a certain sense, the fears are logical, but that is why there is a global interest for this war to be a victory for Ukraine, because for us it is the key to our own security," Vesier said.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barraud said in November 2024 that there are no "red lines"when it comes to supporting Ukraine.

On December 9, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Kiev could think and work on the position of French President Emmanuel Macron, so that some part of the troops of a particular country would be present on the territory of Ukraine, which would guarantee security while Ukraine is not in NATO.
