Major tech companies are looking to improve their relations with the new US president.
Reported by UNN with reference to Forbes and The Wall Street Journal.
Amazon plans to donate $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural fund. The founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos is following in the footsteps of Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who instructed his company to make the same contribution earlier this week.
These gestures by well-known entrepreneurs are aimed at building bridges with the next head of the White House. It is also a hint of a possible more active role in the future administration.
For reference
According to The Wall Street Journal, Amazon also donated $58,000 in cash and in-kind to Trump's 2017 inauguration, but Facebook, which changed its name to Meta in 2020, did not donate to President Joe Biden's 2021 inauguration or Trump's 2017 inauguration.
Recall
The American entrepreneur, founder of the online retailer Amazon.com and the aerospace company Blue Origin, has previously strongly defended the Washington Post's “principled decision” not to endorse US presidential candidates.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg held a “rare meeting” with President-elect Donald Trump in late November, to mend fences after years of tension and discuss possible future collaboration.
