US Deputy National Security Advisor John Feiner urged not to let the political struggle over the US border overshadow the important vote on additional funding for Ukraine, emphasizing its strategic importance in defending against Russian aggression.

Deputy National Security Advisor John Feiner said that the issue of voting on additional funding for Ukraine should not be lost among the political struggle around the US border, UNN reports citing Voice of America.

Feiner emphasized that the US President is open to negotiations on border issues and has made proposals to attract additional resources for the border, but Biden will not succumb to the "ultimatums of the radicalized part" of the Republican Party.

Feiner called the vote on funding for Ukraine a "shocking moment" for Washington. "Someone is voting against what we believe is absolutely necessary, in terms of strategy and the battlefield in Ukraine, to ensure that it does not fall prey to Vladimir Putin's predators. President Zelensky's adviser said yesterday that if [aid to Ukraine] is not voted on, we could lose this war," said the deputy national security adviser, referring to a speech by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, at the United States Institute of Peace in Washington on December 5. At that time, Yermak called on Congress to approve additional funding for Ukraine as soon as possible and said that without assistance there is a high risk of losing the war.

According to the US National Security Advisor, it is very important to get funding for Ukraine because it will allow Ukraine to "stay in the fight."

"This money will allow us to maintain parity when it comes to ammunition, when it comes to air defense, which protects Ukrainian cities and Ukrainian critical infrastructure," says Finer.

According to the White House official, after 2024, the United States will increase its own defense production and work with Ukraine to strengthen its defense industry. The US National Security Advisor emphasizes that European partners are doing the same.
