Law enforcement officers detained an 18-year-old man in Kharkiv who set fire to the car of a Ukrainian serviceman on request. The man's curators are likely to be representatives of the Russian Federation, according to the regional prosecutor's office, UNN reports.

According to the investigation, on the night of July 26, a young man set fire to a camouflage-colored Land Rover Range Rover on Chebotarska Street in the Kholodnohirskyi district of Kharkiv. He did it with a bottle of flammable mixture that he had prepared in advance. The car burned to the ground.
The offender fled the scene of the crime, but law enforcement officers quickly exposed the young man and detained him.
It was established that the suspect, aiming to make money, responded to an advertisement with the task to search for cars of Ukrainian defenders and destroy the vehicles. For successfully completing the task, the young man received 40 thousand hryvnias - however, this amount is several times less than the “employers” promised
He was served a notice of suspicion on the fact of intentional damage to another's property committed by arson (Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Law enforcement officers are currently establishing the suspect's involvement in similar crimes and are taking measures to identify the “curators” - probably from Russia - on whose orders the young man committed illegal actions.
