Details
According to the head of state, Ukraine must preserve its own history and the memory of the people who built the state and fought for its freedom. The President recalled that it was during Mazepa's hetmancy that the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra acquired its majestic appearance – walls and fortifications were erected, churches were renovated, and printing and book publishing developed.
Ukraine will always preserve its history. It will preserve and protect the memory of those who built our state, defended its freedom, and worked for its future
The President also called the installation of the bust a restoration of historical justice.
