Eighty-one years after the end of World War II, Ukrainians are once again forced to stop an evil based on a similar ideology of hatred. Only this time, German Nazism has been replaced by its updated Russian version, UNN reports, citing a statement by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism on May 8.
Details
As the Head of State noted, World War II turned Ukrainian land into a field of brutal battles, atrocities in occupied territories, and the mass destruction of people and life. Ukrainians suffered some of the greatest losses in that war.
Millions of Ukrainians, as part of various armies of the Anti-Hitler Coalition states, fought against Nazism. Millions of Ukrainians were among the victors, doing everything possible to ensure that total evil lost
However, 81 years later, Ukrainians must once again fight against total evil—this time, from Putin's Russia. Today, a united free world can and must overcome such Russian aggression, the President noted.
I am grateful to everyone who helps us protect life. I am grateful to everyone who does not allow this Russian regime to dictate to the world what happens next. Protecting people's lives and the freedom of nations from Putin is an absolutely worthy tribute to the memory of those who did not allow Hitler to conquer Europe and the world
The President of Ukraine expressed his respect to all those who died during World War II and the current Russian-Ukrainian war.
Eternal gratitude to all who fought against Nazism and liberated people. Blessed memory to all innocent victims of World War II. Glory to every defender of life! Glory to Ukraine!
