On Tuesday, the Spanish High Court of Justice sentenced 74-year-old pensioner Pompeyo González Pascual to 18 years in prison for a terrorism-related crime. The court found him guilty of sending several explosive parcels in 2022 targeting government and diplomatic institutions.
According to the indictment, González Pascual was arrested in January 2023 after sending six parcels with improvised explosives in late 2022. The targets of his attack were Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Defense Minister Margarita Robles, the Ukrainian and US embassies in Madrid, as well as an air base and a weapons manufacturer.
