191 combat engagements took place on the frontline yesterday, the hottest ones in the Pokrovsk sector, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported in a summary as of 8 a.m. on January 1, UNN reports.

Yesterday, the enemy launched five missile attacks on the positions of Ukrainian troops and populated areas using 25 missiles, as well as 10 air strikes, including 29 KABs. In addition, it conducted over 3,200 attacks, including 165 from multiple launch rocket systems, and engaged about 1,260 kamikaze drones.
"Yesterday, the aviation, missile forces and artillery of the Defense Forces hit eight areas of concentration of enemy personnel, a UAV control center, an air defense facility, two fuel and lubricant depots, two radar stations and six other important enemy targets," the report said.

One hostile attack took place in the Kharkiv sector in the vicinity of Vovchansk yesterday.
In the Kupyansk sector, seven occupants' attacks took place over the day. Defense forces repelled enemy assaults in the areas of Lozova, Nova Kruhlyakivka and Zahryzove.
In the Lyman sector, the enemy attacked 19 times. He tried to advance near Nadiya, Pershotravneve, Zelenyi Hai, Novoyehorivka, Yampolivka, Terny, Dibrova and in the directions of Druzhelyubivka, Cherneshchyna, Novosergiyivka.
Yesterday, the enemy tried to force our defenders from their positions near Bilohorivka and Hryhorivka in the Siversky sector eight times by assault. They were unsuccessful.
32 assault actions took place in the Kramatorsk sector yesterday in the vicinity of Chasiv Yar, Stupky, Bila Hora and Predtechyne. Three of them are still ongoing.
In the Toretsk sector, the enemy carried out 13 attacks in the areas of Shcherbynivka, Bila Hora and Toretsk.
In the Pokrovsk sector, our defenders stopped 57 assault and offensive actions of the aggressor towards Zelene Pole, Baranivka, Novotoretske, Promin, Lysivka, Myrnohrad, Kotlyne, Solone, Shevchenko, Novooleksandrivka, Dachenske, Zelene, Novyi Trud, Vovkove, Pishchane and Novovasylivka.
In the Kurakhove sector, the Defense Forces repelled 20 enemy attacks. The enemy concentrated its main offensive efforts in the areas of Petropavlivka, Dachne, Ukrainka, Shevchenko and Kurakhove.
On the Vremivsky direction, the enemy launched 11 assaults on our positions near Kostiantynopolske, Dachne, Rozlyv, Velyka Novosilka and Neskuchne.
The enemy did not conduct active operations in the Huliaipilsky sector.
In the Orikhivsky sector, near Novoandriyivka, the invaders made three futile attempts to push our defenders from their positions.
On the Prydniprovsky direction, Russian invaders attacked our positions three times. After suffering losses, they retreated.
No signs of enemy offensive groups were detected in the Volyn and Polissia directions.
On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the enemy is using artillery from the territory of the Russian Federation in the vicinity of Ukrainian settlements.
"In the Kursk sector, our defenders repelled 13 enemy attacks yesterday, the enemy fired 373 artillery shells, carried out 3 air strikes, dropping 3 UAVs," the report says.
According to the General Staff, our soldiers are inflicting significant losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces and actively undermining the enemy's offensive potential in the rear.
