Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed bill No. 5110, which introduces criminal liability for manifestations of antisemitism in Ukraine. This was reported by UNN.
Details
According to the explanatory note, the purpose of this bill is to standardize the provisions of the Criminal Code of Ukraine in accordance with the provisions of the bill "On Preventing and Counteracting Antisemitism in Ukraine," which legally regulates issues of counteracting and preventing antisemitism and its manifestations in Ukraine.
In addition, this bill provides for amendments to Article 161 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of equality of citizens depending on their racial, national, regional affiliation, religious beliefs, disability, and other grounds) regarding the establishment of criminal liability for manifestations of antisemitism.
This bill establishes criminal liability for manifestations of antisemitism in the form of a fine or restriction of liberty for up to five years. It also provides for imprisonment for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years or without such deprivation.
