For the 17th time during the military conflict, the Zaporizhzhia NPP temporarily lost its external power supply during the night

- the IAEA reported.

According to the IAEA, "the power outage was caused by a drone strike on the 'Nikopolska' substation, located on the opposite side of the Dnipro River from the ZNPP, which led to a temporary disconnection of the facility's only remaining power line for approximately 20 minutes."

"The ZNPP's emergency diesel generators provided electricity until the line was reconnected shortly before midnight," the IAEA statement reads.

"This incident once again highlights the persistent threats to nuclear safety during the war," stated IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, "reiterating the need for military restraint to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident."
